📘 Materi TBI : Passive Voice and Adjective Clause

1. Passive Voice (Kalimat Pasif)

Pengertian: Passive voice adalah bentuk kalimat di mana subjek kalimat dikenai tindakan, bukan melakukan tindakan. Biasanya digunakan ketika pelaku tidak penting atau tidak diketahui.

Rumus Umum:
  • Subject (yang dikenai aksi) + to be + V3 (past participle) [+ by + agent (optional)]

Keterangan: Bentuk "to be" menyesuaikan tenses:

  • Present Simple: am/is/are + V3
  • Past Simple: was/were + V3
  • Future Simple: will be + V3
  • Present Perfect: has/have been + V3
  • Past Continuous: was/were being + V3
  • Future Perfect: will have been + V3
Contoh Kalimat:
  • Aktif: The chef cooks the meal.
  • Pasif: The meal is cooked by the chef.
  • Aktif: They will finish the project.
  • Pasif: The project will be finished by them.
  • Aktif: She has written a novel.
  • Pasif: A novel has been written by her.
2. Adjective Clause (Klausa Adjektiva)

Pengertian: Adjective clause (juga disebut relative clause) adalah klausa yang berfungsi sebagai kata sifat dan menjelaskan atau memberikan informasi tambahan tentang noun (kata benda).

Ciri-ciri Adjective Clause:
  • Biasanya diawali dengan relative pronoun seperti who, whom, whose, which, that.
  • Dapat ditempatkan setelah noun yang dijelaskan.
Rumus Umum:
  • Noun + Relative Pronoun + Subject/Verb (klausa penjelas)
Contoh Kalimat:
  • The man who lives next door is a doctor. ("who lives next door" menjelaskan "the man")
  • The book that you gave me is interesting.
  • The student whose phone rang in class was embarrassed.
  • The car which was stolen has been found.
  • Do you know the girl whom I met yesterday?

Catatan: Dalam beberapa kasus, relative pronoun bisa dihilangkan (khususnya that dan whom) jika tidak menjadi subjek dari klausa tersebut.

Contoh:
  • Lengkap: The movie that we watched was amazing.
  • Tanpa "that": The movie we watched was amazing.
